Muscles Targeted:
This is a lower body compound exercise that targets the quads, glutes, and hamstrings.
Static Lunges are one of the best single-leg exercises you can perform.
It can be done with body weight, dumbbells or a barbell
Doing each leg at a time puts longer tension on the legs, especially the quads.
Form:
Start with one foot forward, bend both knees to 90 degrees dropping the hips straight down and keeping the chest up.
Don’t let the back knee touch the ground and repeat each repetition before locking out the front knee. This will make it easier to keep tension throughout the entire set.
Rep Ranges:
When performing this exercise with only body weight perform as many reps as possible and focus on each repetition having good form before advancing.
Perform this exercise with dumbbells primarily at moderate to high rep ranges.
With a barbell you can perform this exercise with heavy or light loads just make sure not to sacrifice technique.
